Obtaining Legal Help at an Affordable Cost2 min read

According to MPI, “more than 44.5 million immigrants resided in the United States in 2017, the historical high since census records have been kept. One in seven U.S. residents is foreign born, according to 2017 American Community Survey (ACS) data. While immigrants’ current share—13.7 percent—of the overall U.S. population (325.7 million people) has been increasing since the record low marked in 1970.” With these statistics, immigration has become one of the most discussed topics in political campaigns, news broadcasts, and articles. For many migrants, they are overwhelmed by the legal matters that they will soon encounter.

What Can I Do?

The Universal Church has started a free informational program called “Know Your Rights”, where those who needs immigration help can get all the answer they need to resolve their current situation. The church work alongside certified lawyers to ensure that their safety is guaranteed as well as avoiding any legal ramifications. Community members are welcomed to ask questions about any of these topics and more. Thousands of community members who are frustrated with the lack of information and concern over immigration rights attend these seminars to learn how to protect themselves and their loved ones in the face of the ever increasing strict policies placed by federal immigration authorities in non-border related stops.

This seminar mostly covers questions such as:

  • How can I hire immigration lawyers at an affordable cost?
  • What is the current state of DACA? Can a person still apply/renew for the program?
  • If I am a victim of domestic violence or have a serious illness, will this help me obtain legal status?
  • Why is the immigration process, such as renewals, taking longer than usual?
  • Is there any possibility of obtaining a green card under the current administration?
