Unfortunately, not everyone recognizes that they have insecurity. Usually, people like to blame others for their problems, and that’s why they have an abundance of them.
The first step to overcome insecurities is to acknowledge that you have them. Once you have done this, then you have to deal with them in the way that God taught us to. Do you remember that famous Bible verse that talks about faith?
“Now faith is the substance of things we hope for, the evidence of things not seen.” (Hebrews 11.1)
This is one of my favorite verses in the Bible. It basically tells us that we have to believe regardless of what we see, feel, think or hear. Your insecurities came from one of these channels or more. Maybe one day someone told you something negative, and until today you base yourself on those same words. Or, maybe you saw or felt things in the past that has caused you to make a lot ill judgements about yourself. Regardless of the way that the insecurities came, they are all cancelled when you use your faith.
I know that it is much easier said than done, but that doesn’t mean that it cannot be done. When you believe, you give it your all, it‘s as simple as that.
Let’s say, for example, that you have a serious problem with your appearance, and because of this you dress in a very simple manner. You try to convince yourself and those around you that you don’t like to worry about the way you dress, that you are not like that. However, deep down you think that you are not able to do it, and that you will only be trying to cover up what could never look better. How can you use your faith and disregard these thoughts?
You dress up anyway. The evil thoughts will surely come and will try to make you feel like a clown, but all you need to do is to believe.
When you use your faith, you use a tool that goes beyond any psychological treatment. You don’t need to pay for it, but you need to obey and trust, which sometimes can be painful, but when you do this quite often, the pain will quickly be substituted for an inexplicable joy.
Once you start your journey towards overcoming your insecurities, you change. You change the way you look at people and the way you see the world. You become strong and independent, ready for any challenge. The more you overcome, the stronger you get. Until the day that you look back and cannot even recognize the person that you were.
