They returned from the glorious mission in healing the sick, liberating the captives and using Christian authority over Satan. An uncontainable joy took them.
But the Lord immediately alerted them, saying:
…Nevertheless do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rather rejoice because your names are written in heaven. Luke 10:20
It is one thing to receive blessings in all areas of life in this world and, even, to serve as a vehicle for those blessings.
Another thing is to receive the blessing of blessings: the full certainty of having the name written in the Book of Life, granted by the Spirit of God, and also serving as an instrument of that glory.
All blessings regarding material life are crumbs before the greatness of serving as the indwelling of the Holy Spirit.
Nothing in this world, no matter how rich, beautiful, pleasant or more everything, can compare to the fullness of the Spirit of the Lord.
Because of that, nothing and no one can eliminate the joy, peace, and conviction of His presence within.
He is the inexhaustible Hidden Treasure, found by those who seek Him with all their strength, with all understanding, and with all their heart.
Of course, in His absence, any crumb, even bitter, is sweet as honey.
The immense joy of those disciples had nothing to do with the pleasure of happiness and the absolute certainty of being the living temple of the Holy Spirit.
