Many people do not understand the nature of God, they do not understand who He truly is. This happens because we need to have a connection with God, not only during church services, but during other moments of the day. In this way, we will build a close relationship with Him.
Here are five steps that will help you to get closer to God:
1. Put God first in your life.
There are people who desire to know God, but they are not willing to follow Him. Denying ourselves and obeying Him is not an easy task. However, in order to be closer to our Creator, we need to understand that He is the most important in our life.
2. Do not trust your heart.
The bible says, “ The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked…” (Jeremiah 17:9)
Society teaches us that we should follow our heart, but in practice, we can see that the heart does not know how to make wise choices. It goes after what it desires without thinking about the consequences, which are very dangerous. For this reason, choose to trust in the guidance of the Holy Spirit.
3. Learn to speak with God.
Since society teaches us to follow our feelings, many times we do not consult with God about aspects of our life. However, here we encourage you to speak with God daily and listen to what He has to say. You will notice what a great and unique experience this will be.
4. Do not fall into temptation.
At all times, the evil spirits put things in our way that are pleasing to the eye with the goal of diverting us from the path of the Lord Jesus. They know that if we follow the Almighty, we will live a fulfilled life, which goes against their plans. So, stay away from the things that harm your faith.
5. Feed yourself with what comes from God.
If we feed ourselves with what comes from the Spirit of God, we will not be easily influenced by the things suggested by evil.
