Going to prison was awful for me. I was a single mother and I started selling drugs and getting involved in gang activity to survive. I had to do this to support my family. I was arrested for selling drugs and my case went to trial. I was facing 25 years to life. Mentally, I was broken. For the first 48 hours in prison, all I could think about was 25 years to life. That’s a long time! That was the weakest that I have ever felt in my life. If it wasn’t for the UBB coming to the prison and handing me this Study Bible to start reading and understanding, I don’t know what would have happened to me. I don’t know where I would have been – I would be lost. Now I am focused on helping others because I know how it feels to feel stuck. To feel like nothing and no one is there to help you. This Bible is your only freedom when you are in jail. You need this for your strength. No matter how many letters, phone calls, commissary or money you have on your books, none of that matters. If you want to help someone, donate a Bible to them. Give them life, give them a fighting chance.
These images are from a UBB event that took place in the Wayne Scott Unit in Texas. Many inmates, staff, and officers received a Study Bible as a gift, donated by those who have this desire to save a life. Now you too have the opportunity to save a prisoner. Join the challenge, and let’s help save lives!
